Picture FlashCards
While perhaps a little daunting at first, Picture FlashCards can be incredibly powerful and versatile. by selecting the image button on the right of the flashcard you want to make a picture, you unlock all the features of Picture FlashCards. Above, you will see an image of the picture palette, and on it, eight buttons. Along the left side are six common buttons. Rectangle and Circle allow you to draw the respective shapes. Freehand allows you to draw as with a pencil on paper. Line draws straight lines. Arrow draws lines with arrowheads at the end, useful for pointing at things. To use any of these five controls, click the button and then in the drawing window, press down on the left mouse button to specify the start corner, drag, and release to specify the end corner. With freehand, the path your cursor takes determines the shape of the line. The sixth button on this left side is the Pick tool, which allows you to select items and move them, or right click them to change other properties, such as the border width or position relative to other objects.
Clicking on a color from the swatch with the left mouse button will set the fill color, while the right mouse button sets the border color. subsequent drawings will also use this color scheme. Bitmaps It is possible to load an image from a file, and use that as all or part of a card side. The button on the top of the palette is used for this purpose. Click it, browse to a file, and then press Open. In the top-left corner of the screen you will see the Image Bin, with the list of images you have loaded. From the Bin, you can double-click an image and it will be positioned centered and stretched to fit inside the card. As an alternative, you can click and drag the image onto the card for it to remain full size. Right-clicking images allows you to apply the same modifiers to images as with other shapes you have drawn, as well as automatic sizing features. Clickable Regions Simple yet powerful, clickable regions are an easy way to make a picture the answer side of a FlashCard. By drawing a clickable region, Virtual FlashCards treats the answer as correct if you click within that region while studying. For example, in a US State FlashCard Set, one side could be a map of the United States and the other side could be all the names. If the side you were presented with was the word "California" and your answer side was the US map, you could have a clickable region surrounding California that you would then have to click in. To make a clickable region, simply press the button on the palette and click from corner to corner. Double-click the last vertex to finish. |
