Virtual FlashCards comes with four study modes, three of which will be discussed here.  Manual is the most basic.  Clicking this randomly shows a card until all the cards have been shown once (or more depending on your accuracy).  Clicking Automatic brings up the following dialog box:

The Automatic Study Options gives you two choices.  The first, Incremental, shows you several cards until you have mastered them, and then adds more successively until you have mastered the full set.  This has been proven to be a very effective study method.  Historical is for long-term studying, and tests you more on cards you have historically not fared so well on.  Once you have Chosen your mode and the number, press the button with the arrow facing to the right to continue.

There is one other study mode, and that is Flip Study
